Oil found at Indra offshore Brazil

Statoil is reporting that it and partner Petrobras struck oil on the Indra prospect offshore Brazil in Espirito Santo basin.

STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil is reporting that it and partner Petrobras struck oil on the Indra prospect offshore Brazil in Espirito Santo basin. Petrobras operates license BM-ES-32 and Statoil has a 40% interest.

The exploration well was drilled at a depth of 2,130 m (6,988 ft) and the reservoir thickness is approximately 70 m (230 ft) and is of good quality. The preliminary analysis of the oil shows a density in the range between 25º and 30º API.

The Indra find was made by the semisubmersible rig Paul Wolfe. The location is 140 km (87 mi) from land and some 400 km (245 mi) north of the Peregrino field.
